The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides comprehensive clinical services for stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreatic diseases. Dhe Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology plays a leading role also in research and teaching. In addition to an inpatient ward, the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology has several modern endoscopy rooms, a highly specialised function laboratory, a large Hepatology Outpatient Unit, and consultation services for patients with chronic inflammatory intestinal diseases. A highly dedicated and expert specialist team of physicians and nurses provide medical and nursing services at the highest level with an emphasis on a comprehensive and individual care. In addition to good internal cooperation, cooperation with specialists from other disciplines also plays an important role. Internationally-recognised experts regularly update the continuous medical education program. The patient-oriented research focuses on improved understanding of diseases, the optimisation of early diagnosis, and the development of new interdisciplinary treatment concepts.
