Welcome to the webpage of the UniversityHospital Zurich Division of Neurology. This webpage will summarize the most important information about our department for you.

The Department of Neurology is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of both common and rare diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. We treat more than 6,500 people either as outpatients or inpatients every year. Further, we support our clinical partner institutions at the UniversityHospital in the care of their patients. We are constantly developing and improving our standards of treatment and care, in line with national and international standards. Based on our close cooperation with other clinical departments and institutes of the UniversityHospital Zurich and our intense research and education activities, it is our aim to diagnose and treat a range of neurological disorders to meet the highest current international standards of care. Specifically, our department aims to offer you treatment and care that is tailored to your own medical and personal needs.

The Division of Neurology offers diagnostic procedures as well as standard and novel treatments, and can thus offer comprehensive care for patients with a broad spectrum of diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and muscular system. The division covers an enormous spectrum of experience and expertise. The strong alliance between diagnosis, treatment, and research makes it possible for us to continuously optimize our medical service, upgrade our skills and ensure compassionate care.

The Division of Neurology has an outpatient clinic and two wards with forty beds. It is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of the following diseases:

• Stroke
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Brain tumors
• Vertigo and vestibular disorders
• Epilepsy
• Pain
• Memory disorders
• Parkinson and other movement disorders
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Sleep disorders

For many years, the division has held a leading position in the field of the vestibular system. The initiation and conduct of innovative clinical trials have become an important focus of the division. Together with the clinical partner disciplines of Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology as well as many other cooperating institutions at the UniversityHospital Zurich, the Division of Neurology has established multidisciplinary competence centers for epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases and neuro-oncology.
