Innovative treatments, highly qualified employees, and modern medical technology contribute to the Division of Urology being regarded as one of the leading medical units in all of Europe. With its own independent research unit, the division enlarges its important international position in the scientific field as well.
The Division of Urology offers the complete range of diagnosis of and treatment for urological diseases in men and women.
Implementing all modern methods, the specialists carry out 3,000 operations and 20,000 consultations every year. In research, internationally recognised results have been achieved. In order to increase the degree of innovation, an independent research unit was founded in 2007. A team of 20 physicians, 40 nurses and 12 administrative employees guarantee compassionate care to their patients. The research activities of urology range from urological oncology focusing on prostate and bladder cancer, tissue engineering, erectile dysfunction and neurourology.
Areas of Specialization:
- Laparoscopic operations of the adrenal glands, kidneys, bladder and prostate; introduction of robot-assisted laparoscopic interventions with the DaVinci-Robot in 2002 as the first centre in Switzerland
- Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia with Green-Light-Laser System and Brachy therapy
- Centre of specialization in the treatment of nephrolithisis
