Advanced medical training

Training to become a specialist certified by the FMH

Assistant doctors can undergo training programs for almost all Swiss medical specializations in over 40 departments and institutes at the University Hospital Zurich.

The Schweizerische Institut für ärztliche Weiter- und Fortbildung (Swiss Institute for Advanced Medical Training and Education, SIWF) determines the content of the advanced training program together with the specialist bodies. With the senior physicians, the departmental and institute directors are responsible for implementing department-specific advanced training concepts: for the careful and competent supervision of assistant physicians at patients' bedsides, in the operating theater and during reports and ward rounds.
