Amenities in the rooms

Many patient rooms at the UHZ have a private bathroom with shower. All rooms are equipped with radio, television, direct dial telephone and internet (wifi). We offer spacious multi-bed rooms for patients with general insurance. Double rooms are available for those with semi-private insurance and privately insured individuals can utilize our single rooms. Patients with general insurance may request a double or single room on the registration form and semi-private patients may request a single room. Depending on the available space, we may be able to fulfill your request and clarify the coverage of additional costs.

Media, telephone and internet

Headphones are provided in all multi-bed rooms. You will receive a phone card for the cashless telephones. All common lounge rooms have a TV and wifi internet access. When staying in a multi-bed room, please always be considerate of your fellow patients. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm.

Hospital church and room of tranquility

Our hospital church is open around the clock. You can light a candle for yourself or someone else, or write personal thoughts and feelings in a reflection book.

The room of tranquility was designed as an inter-religious space and bears the symbols of all major religions. You can write down experiences concerning the illness, as well as your thoughts, concerns, prayers and hopes.

Smoke-free hospital

The UHZ is a smoke-free hospital, including on the balconies and terraces. There are several common rooms available for smokers. For questions on quitting smoking, please contact our smoking advice line on +41 44 255 15 15 or email kardiologie@usz.ch. Alternatively, you can let the UHZ doctors or nurses know at any time during your stay if you need support.

Hospital park

Our spacious park, featuring an abundance of mature trees, is ideal for enjoying short breaks in the fresh air. It's a blessing for the body and mind. Please do not leave the hospital grounds without consulting your doctor and informing the nursing staff.

Valuable are best left at home

We recommend leaving valuables (jewelry, expensive watches, etc.), credit cards, large amounts of money and expensive electronic devices at home. The University Hospital Zurich does not accept liability for any loss or damage. You can deposit your valuables and cash at the central cash office.
